HDPE Geomembrane Waterproofing Liner

Geomembrane, as a new type of material, is made of high-density polyethylene. It is a flexible material with high water permeability resistance, and has good chemical stability, acid, alkali, oil, corrosion resistance, high temperature and cold resistance, suitable for temperatures of minus 50 degrees -110 degrees, aging resistance, and the performance remains unchanged in a long time outdoor exposed environment. It has good tensile properties and elongation, and can adapt to environmental changes caused by geological uneven settlement. Based on the above characteristics, geomembrane is often used in projects with high index requirements.

Geomembrane is an important engineering material, the following is a detailed introduction to geomembrane:

Geomembrane, the English name is geomembrane, is a kind of polymer (such as high density polyethylene resin) as the basic raw material, after high temperature melting, extrusion, calendering made of waterproof barrier material. It is mainly divided into low density polyethylene (LDPE) geomembrane, high density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane and EVA geomembrane.

Characteristics and performance:

1. High impermeability:

Geomembrane has a high impermeability coefficient, usually up to 1×10^-17 cm/s, which can effectively prevent water penetration.

2. Good flexibility:

Geomembrane has good flexibility, high tensile strength and ductility, and can adapt to a variety of complex terrain and settlement displacement.

3. Simple construction:

Geomembrane light weight, the main construction operation is laying and processing joints, simple and quick, help to shorten the construction period.

4. Chemical erosion resistance:

Geomembrane has strong chemical erosion resistance, is not easy to be eroded by soil and water, and has a long service life.

5. Good economy:

According to statistical calculations, the cost of geomemofilm per unit area is only about 10% of the concrete material, which can greatly reduce the engineering cost on the basis of ensuring the penetration effect.

How install a geomembrane?

Using geomembrane to build a waterproofing system is a systematic and delicate project that needs to follow certain steps and specifications. Here is a basic process:

Goundation treatment:

1. Base cleaning: Clean the base thoroughly according to the design requirements, including removing sharp stones, roots and other sharp objects that may damage the geomembrane, to ensure that the base surface is smooth and dense, without local concave and convex phenomenon. The cleaned base surface should be compacted with a tamper or tamper plate to make it compact and flat.

2. Leveling the ground: If the ground is uneven, it needs to be leveled to ensure that the geomembrane can be closely fitted to the base surface when laid to avoid bubbles and folds.

Geomembrane laying:

1. Choose the laying direction: Determine the laying direction of the geomembrane according to the needs of the project. Usually, it should be laid from the slope, from the top down, and then the plane part should be laid from the inside out.

2. Laying geomembrane: During the laying process, the geomembrane should not be pulled too tightly, and it should be cracked loose, but it should not leave bubbles at the bottom of the film. Between the film and the film and between the film and the base surface should be pressed tightly to ensure that there is no gap.

3. Peripheral treatment: the geomembrane and the surrounding soil should be closely connected to block the seepage entrance and cut off the lateral leakage path. This is usually done by digging a water trough and burying the geomembrane in the trough.

Geomembrane splicing

1. Splicing method: The splicing of geomembrae can be done by hot melt welding, adhesive or compacting lap. Among them, hot melt welding has the best waterproof effect and is a common splicing method.

2. Splicing requirements: Splicing should ensure that there is no dust, oil and other debris, and cross welding should be avoided when welding, but ladder welding should be used. After the welding is complete, perform quality inspection to ensure that there are no defects such as missing welding or virtual welding.

Construotion of insulation protection cover

1. Backfill soil material: After the geomembrane is laid, the soil material should be backfilled in time to avoid secondary damage to the geomembrane. Backfill material should be sifted to avoid oversize particles puncturing the soil diaphragm.

2. Compaction treatment: After backfilling the soil material, compaction treatment should be carried out to ensure that the soil material is dense and prevent soil erosion and geomembrane damage.

Maintenance

1. Regular inspection: Check the geomembic waterproof system regularly, and repair it in time if damage or leakage is found.

2. Protection management: Set a protective layer above the geomembrane, such as gravel cushion, concrete plate, etc., to extend the service life of the geomembrane. At the same time, we should strengthen the protection and management of the surrounding environment to avoid man-made damage.
