Geomembrane can be divided into many types according to the material, such as HDPE (high density polyethylene) geomembrane, LDPE (low 

density polyethylene),geomembrane, LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene) geomembrane, composite geomembrane and so on. Different kinds of 

geomembranes have different performance characteristics and are suitable for different engineering environments.


HDPE geomembrane: has a high service life and good anti-seepage effect, but also has good puncture resistance, tensile resistance, acid and alkali 

resistance and corrosion resistance, suitable for pollution, corrosion, acid and alkaline geotechnical construction, such as urban solid waste landfill,

 tailings treatment site, waste slag storage yard.


LDPE geomembrane: has a high elongation at break, good flexibility, suitable for road, railway subgrade, subway, basement and other geotechnical construction.


Composite geomembrane: composed of geotextile and geomembrane, it has the advantages of convenient construction, good anti-seepage effect, good puncture

Geomembrane construction precautions:

Construction preparation: Before construction, the base surface should be levelled to ensure that no sharp objects protruded, so as not to puncture the soil diaphragm. 

At the same time, the required leveling materials such as sand or clay, as well as welding equipment, should be prepared.

Laying and welding: When laying HDPE geomemofilm, it should be naturally developed to avoid excessive stretching or discounting. The two adjacent geomembranes 

should be connected by thermal welding or special tape to ensure the sealing of the joints. When welding, the temperature and time should be controlled to avoid 

overheating or undercooling leading to poor welding quality.

Inspection and acceptance: After the completion of construction, the HDPE geomembrane should be comprehensively inspected to ensure that it has no defects 

such as damage, no bubbles, and no wrinkles. At the same time, acceptance tests, such as leakage tests, should also be carried out to ensure that its anti-seepage 

performance meets the requirements.
